The story of the fierce resistance of the ancient Ligurian peoples against Rome, of how they remained proud and hostile even after the defeat and submission. People strong in the use of weapons, as the historian Livio described them. several heathen tribes, united by the cult of the peaks and by a deep bond with their lands. However, the germ of Christendom would have long after corroded even the strongest of the empires from within.
